neck builder flexing your head forward against a band, done standing
the same job as a neck flexion on a bench with nothing to set up but a band
and an anchor, so it fits at the end of any session
the band is slackest where the neck is stretched, a suboptimal strength curve
next to a plate, traded for the easy setup
Execution
Anchor a band at head height behind you. Loop it around your forehead and step
forward until it pulls your head back. Stand tall with your shoulders down.
let the band draw your head back until you feel a stretch down the front of
your neck
flex your head forward, bringing your chin towards your chest
move only at the neck, keeping your shoulders still
let the band bring your head back under control
pause briefly in the stretched position before the next rep
Start with a light band. The neck adapts slowly and the range is what you are
building first. When it stops being hard, add resistance rather than reps. Use a
heavier band, or step further from the anchor.
