neck builder that draws your chin straight back rather than tipping your head
it loads the deep neck flexors, which a neck flexion mostly hands to the
larger muscles running down the front of your throat
the only neck work done standing against a band, which pulls your head forward
along the same line your chin travels back
Execution
Anchor a band at head height and stand facing it. Loop it around the back of
your head and step back until it pulls your head forward.
stand tall with your shoulders down and your eyes level
draw your chin straight back against the band, as if making a double chin
keep your eyes level so your head slides rather than tilts
hold the retracted position briefly
let the band bring your head forward again under control
A tucked chin that turns into a nod has become a neck flexion instead. When it
stops being hard, add resistance rather than reps: a heavier band, or step
further from the anchor.
