oblique builder rotating against a cable from a half-kneeling stance
one knee down locks your pelvis, so the rotation has to come from your trunk
instead of your hips turning with you
that makes it the harder of the two chops at the same weight, because less of
your body is available to cheat with
Execution
Set a cable high and attach a handle. Kneel on the knee nearest the stack with
the other foot forward, hips square. Take the handle in both hands at chest
height and brace your trunk.
pull the handle diagonally down across your body, rotating through your trunk
keep your arms straight and drive from your trunk rather than your arms
keep your hips facing forward the whole way
let the cable draw your torso back towards the machine under control
finish all reps on one side before switching
If your hips start turning, the stance has stopped doing its job and you may as
well be standing.
