upper-chest builder, loaded and progressed like any bench
the incline shifts the press onto the clavicular fibres of the chest, which a
flat bench reaches far less
unlike an overhead press it stays a chest movement, so the delts assist rather
than lead
Execution
Set an incline bench to roughly 30-45 degrees. Lie back, arch your back and set
your feet. Squeeze your shoulders back and down. Unrack the bar and stabilize
it.
lower the bar to the top of your chest, just below the collarbone
keep your elbows at roughly 45 degrees to your torso
pause briefly at the point of contact
press back up, pushing yourself away from the bar
finish by locking out and stabilizing
Expect less weight than a flat bench. The angle is the point, so chasing your
flat-bench number here defeats it.
