Purpose
- neck builder flexing your head forward against a load on your forehead
- the neck flexors are the front half of a muscle group that shows from every
angle, and nothing else in a training week loads them
- the range is short, so this lives or dies on control rather than on how much
you stack
Execution
Lie face up on a bench with your head and neck hanging off the end. Hold a plate
or a head harness against your forehead with both hands.
- lower your head back until you feel a stretch down the front of your neck
- flex your head forward, bringing your chin towards your chest
- move only at the neck, keeping your shoulders on the bench
- lower it back under control
- pause briefly in the stretched position before the next rep
Start with no weight at all and work up incrementally. The neck adapts slowly
and the range is what you are building first.
