built to fix wherever your deadlift actually stalls
stopping mid-pull removes the momentum that normally carries you through the
sticking point, so the position has to be held under load
it costs you weight on the bar, and that cost is the whole point
Execution
Set up over the bar exactly as you would to deadlift. Brace your trunk, flex
erectors and wedge yourself into the bar.
break the bar off the floor and pull to your chosen height
stop there and hold without letting the bar drift or your hips rise
keep the same back angle you started with
finish the pull to standing
lower the bar and reset on the floor before the next rep
Pause just below the knee to begin with, or at the height you actually miss, for
two seconds. Keep the height and the count the same every set, and add an
exercise note when you change either.
This is assistance work, so run it after the main lift of the day.
