Purpose
- ab builder crunching from the floor with a plate held overhead
- holding the plate past your head lengthens the lever, so a light plate loads
the abs far more than the same plate held against your chest
- no machine and no cable, which makes it the loaded crunch you can do with a
plate and a floor
Execution
Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat, holding a plate with
both hands and your arms extended overhead.
- keep your arms locked and the plate above your head as you rise
- curl your shoulders off the floor, rounding your spine
- continue until your torso is upright, the plate travelling with you
- lower under control, unrolling your spine
- let your arms reach back overhead at the bottom
Keeping the plate overhead is the whole point. Letting it drift towards your
chest shortens the lever and makes it a lighter exercise.
