Purpose
- bicep builder with your arms braced ahead of your torso on a pad
- the forward shoulder loads the bottom of the curl hardest and the top barely
at all, which is the opposite of where a standing curl is hard
- the pad takes body English away entirely, so every rep is what your biceps
actually did
Execution
Set a preacher bench so the top of the pad sits under your armpits. Take an EZ
bar in both hands and lay your upper arms flat on the pad.
- let your arms extend until they are almost straight, feeling the stretch
- pause briefly in the stretched position to maximize tension
- curl the bar up without lifting your arms off the pad
- lower it back down under control to full extension
- keep your upper arms flat on the pad the whole way
The bottom is where this exercise lives. If you cannot control the last few
degrees of extension, the weight is too heavy for what you came here for.
