Purpose
- delt builder with each arm carrying its own load and the legs taken out of it
- sitting against a back pad removes the leg drive, so the press is as strict as
a dumbbell press gets
- the dumbbells still let the arms travel independently and rotate, which a bar
fixes in place
Execution
Set an upright bench with a back pad. Sit back against it and bring the
dumbbells to shoulder height with your palms facing forward.
- press the dumbbells overhead, letting them travel in a slight arc
- finish with the dumbbells over your shoulders
- lower them under control back to shoulder height
- keep your back against the pad the whole way
- descend until you feel the stretch across the front of your shoulders
As the weight climbs, use your legs to kick the dumbbells into position before
you sit back.
