the incline shifts the press onto the clavicular fibres while the rails hold
the bar in line for you
rail friction adds to the press and takes away from the lowering, so the
eccentric is lighter than the number on the bar suggests
Execution
Set an incline bench under the bar at roughly 30-45 degrees, positioned so the
bar lines up with the top of your chest. Lie back and squeeze your shoulders
back and down. Unrack the bar.
lower the bar to the top of your chest, just below the collarbone
keep your elbows at roughly 45 degrees to your torso
pause briefly at the point of contact
press back up along the rails
finish by locking out
Set the bench position once and keep it. A few centimetres changes where the bar
meets your chest.
