deadlift pulled at snatch width, progressed as a lift of its own
the wide grip starts the bar lower and leans your torso further over, so the
pull is longer and the upper back holds a far harder position
it builds your deadlift rather than your snatch: the grip is a way to make the
pull harder, not Olympic position work
Execution
Set up over the bar as you would to deadlift, then widen your hands to snatch
width. Strap in. Brace your trunk, flex erectors and wedge yourself into the
bar.
pull the slack out of the bar before anything moves
push the floor away, keeping the bar against your legs
hold your upper back position as the bar passes your knees
finish by extending your hips and knees
lower the bar under control back to the floor
Use straps. At this grip the hands give out long before the back does, and the
back is the point.
