built to strengthen the snatch's overhead receiving position, not to build a
press
pressing from behind the neck at snatch width puts your shoulders and upper
back in the exact position you catch a snatch in, then loads it
strict, so it goes light: this is the version you run when the push press is
too much
Execution
Take the bar behind your neck at snatch width and stand tall, feet hip-width
apart. Pull your shoulder blades together and brace your trunk.
press the bar straight overhead with no dip and no leg drive
keep the same slight forward lean of the torso the whole way
lock out with the bar behind the line of your ears
hold the overhead position for a beat
lower the bar back to your traps under control
Match your hook grip to what you actually do overhead in a snatch. It also works
as a warm-up before snatching, where the point is the position rather than the
load.
